A Social Distancing Day In My Life

Recently, I’ve actually found myself quite enjoying spending time at home. As I’m in my final year of uni, I am revising hard for my final exams (which may or may not be happening this year…) so I’m not really doing much different to what I would normally be doing.

Structuring my day helps me to be productive. I have found it quite reassuring to have a routine to stick to, when everything in the world is so uncertain!

7:30 am: I wake up, brush my teeth, and go for a 5k run. I like to go bright and early to try to avoid meeting other people, which is almost inevitable when you live in London. If it’s raining, I do some Tai Chi or a body weight workout on YouTube.

9 am: I start work. I like to use the Pomodoro technique, which involves setting a timer for 25 minutes and working for that time undisturbed. I like to use an app like Forest, which stops me from going on my phone.

11 am: Mum sometimes makes us tea in a cute little teapot, and we gossip for a while about politics, the news, or anything else that comes up.

So zen…

1 pm: I help make lunch with my mum for our family. Lunch usually involves heating up a pie and boiling some potatoes, or making pasta, or eating leftovers from last night’s dinner. Something quick and easy.

2:30 pm: Back to work. Sometimes I have a cheeky 20-30 minute nap if I get sleepy.

4 pm: Tai Chi lesson time! Mum is a great instructor, and I feel like I’m improving every day. After this, it’s back to revision 😪occasionally I might use this time to video call dad.

6 pm: Time to help make dinner – my brother and I alternate who helps with the cooking and who helps with the washing up. According to the Harvard Grant Study, doing chores when you’re young helps make you successful!

8 pm: A few more hours of work if I’m running behind – if not, I get the time off to chill, write some blog posts, video call my friends, or watch some Good Omens with my brother.

11 pm: Just before bedtime, I jot down in my 2020 diary what I’ve done that day, and check if my revision plan needs tweaking. After that, I head off to bed. Goodnight… 🛌
