Monique’s fascinating response to cultural appropriation vs cultural appreciation. Really worth a read if you want to understand other cultures deeply!

Good to read someone who has thought about things and then structures a well expressed view. Thanks again. Hope you’re ok over there x

You have a great point in here. If only they swing that way, there’d be less backlash against other cultures😊

What I find ironic in America is that we celebrate Black Heritage and Hispanic Heritage and now Asian Heritage. That’s all good and fine, but it creates an uneven paradigm. Why is there no White Heritage Month?
Because it’s offensive? How does that even make sense if the thing we all claim to advocate these days is equality. At times, to me, the idea of dedicating a whole month to a people group with included marketing amounts to nothing more than patronizing.
How about we have an ‘American Heritage Month?’ You know, where EVERYONE is included and a part?
Anyways, these are my thoughts. Rant ended.
Thanks for sharing.
